Title: The Holy Prophet (Salallaho Alaihi Wasallam) is Alive
Post by: Altaf Sultani on September 15, 2009, 10:11:40 AM
Bismillahir Rehmanir Raheem

Some people do not accept the Holy Prophet (sallal laahu alaihi wasallam) to be alive. They say that he is dead and mixed with the soil. Allah forbid!

The Ahle Sunnah Wal Jama'at believes that the Holy Prophet (sallal laahu alaihi wasallam) is "Hayaatun Nabi", that is, he is alive both physically and spiritually.

Regarding the Martyrs (Shuhada), those who are slain in the path of Allah, Allah Ta'ala says in the Holy Quran: "And say not those who have been slain in the path of Allah to be dead for they are alive and you do not know." (Part 2, Ruku 3) Since it is evident from the Holy Quran that the Martyrs are alive, then it follows that the Ambiya (alaihimus salaam), whose status are much greater than that of the Martyrs, are also alive. (Fathul Baari Sharah Bukhari)

Allah Ta'ala states in the Holy Quran: "And say not of those who are slain in the Way of Allah 'They are dead'. Nay, they are living, though you perceive it not". (al-Baqarah: 154) "Think not of those who are slain in Allah's Way as dead. Nay, they are alive, finding their sustenance in the Presence of their Lord". (al-Ale' Imraan: 169) The above two Ayahs were revealed after the Battle of Badr. The Ashaabs (radi Allahu anhum) used to feel sorry for those who lost their lives in the battle, and used to say: "Alas, so and so has lost his life and has missed the pleasures of this world!" Allah Ta'ala revealed these Ayahs clarifying that the Shuhada (Martyrs) are not "dead" but are transferred from one place to another where they live and are fed by the Bounteous Lord who is not deficient of anything. If the Shuhada are not "dead", how can we say that the greatest Apostle, Sayyiduna Rasoolullah (sallal laahu alaihi wasallam), is no more amongst us?

Referring to the Messengers, Allah Ta?ala says in the Holy Quran: "And ask those of our Mesengers, whom we sent before you, 'Did We appoint any other god except the All-Affectionate, to be worshipped'?" (Part 25, Ruku 10) This verse proves that the Ambiya (alaihimus salaam) are alive because Allah Ta?ala commands us to ask the Messengers about all matters. If they had passed away and mixed with the soil, surely, we would not have been commanded to ask them about anything. (Tafseer Dur Manthur; Tafseer Roohul Muaani)

Another proof supporting that the Ambiya are alive is that on the night of Me'raj, the Holy Prophet Muhammad (sallal laahu alaihi wasallam) passed by Hazrat Moosa (alaihis salaam). He saw him in his grave standing and reading his Salaah.

The Holy Prophet (sallal laahu alaihi wasallam) said, "Recite Durood upon me in abundance on a Friday since it is a respected day. On that day the Angels are present and whosoever sends Durood upon me on that day, then his Durood is placed before me till the time when they have completed sending Durood and Salaam". (Hazrat Abu Dardah radi Allahu anhu says), "I asked, 'Huzoor! Will you even hear (the Salaam) after your demise?'" The Prophet (sallal laahu alaii wasallam) said, "Verily Almighty Allah has made it Haraam upon the earth to devour the bodies of the Ambiya (alaihimus salaam). Thus, all the Nabis of Allah are alive and they are given sustenance." (Ibn Majah; Jame Sahgeer; Mishkaat Shareef)

We learn from this Hadith Shareef that the Ambiya (alaihimus salaam) are alive and they have only been hidden from us. We cannot understand their position, like those of the Angels that they are alive and present but we cannot obtain (see) them. Yes! Those whom Allah has blessed, they can even see them. This has been confirmed that the Ambiya (alaihimus salaam) are alive. (Umdatul Qaari Shara Bukhari)

Hazrat Sheikh Abdul Haq Muhadith Delhwi (radi Allahu anhu) wrote: "There is no death for the Ambiya (alaihimus salaam). They are alive and existing. For them is that one death that has come only once. After this, their souls are put back into their bodies and the life that they had on earth is given back to them." (Takmeelul Imaan)

The greatest proof concerning the Ambiya (alaihimus salaam) being alive is that they make Ibaadah in their graves. They perform their Salaah and they are well provided with food and drink. Like the Angels who are alive, but do not eat and drink. (Mirkaat Shar Mishkaat)

Allah Ta'ala states in the Holy Quran: "And how would you deny faith while unto you are rehearsed the Signs of Allah and among you lives the Prophet". (Sura al- ale'Imraan: 101) This is a typical Ayah proving Hayat-un-Nabi - "among you lives the Prophet". The word "lives" has cleared all doubts. "Among you" has been generalised, meaning with every individual, wherever he or she may be regardless of time. Man's vision and power of hearing is restricted, but it is not so in the case of Sayyiduna Rasoolullah (sallal laahu alaihi wasallam). His powers are far beyond imagination. If somebody says, "Where is the Prophet (sallal laahu alaihi wasallam)? I cannot see him! Why must I stand and read Salaam?" Surely, this statement is absurd because none of us has seen Allah Ta'ala and the Angels. Kiraaman Katibeen are two Angels constantly present with every individual. Can we deny their existence merely because we did not see them?

It was declared in a Hadith, "When a person greets me, Allahu Ta'ala sends my soul to my body and I hear his greeting." Some people quoting this Hadith say that the Prophet (sallal laahu alaihi wasallam) is not alive since his soul returns to his body only when he is greeted.

Imam Jalaal'uddeen as-Suyuti (radi Allahu anhu) said in the book "Anba' al-adhkiya' fi hayat il-anbiya" that "radda" means "ala al-dawam", i.e. permanently, and not temporarily: in other words, Allah does not return the soul and take it back, then return it again and then take it back again, but He has returned it to Rasoolullah (sallal laahu alaihi wasallam) permanently, and the Prophet (sallal laahu alaihi wasallam) is alive permanently, not intermittently as some ignorant people have suggested.

Another explanation of this Hadith is that Rasoolullah (sallal laahu alaihi wasallam) is in the ecstasy of seeing Jamaal-Allah (Allah's Beauty) and forgetful of his bodily senses. Such situations are not scarce in this world, either. One does not hear what people say to one when one is in a deep thought of worldly or heavenly affairs. Can someone who is in ecstasy of contemplating Jamaal of Allah hear any sound ?

Thus, we have proved from authentic sources that the Holy Prophet (sallal laahu alaihi wasallam) is alive both physically and spiritually.

As salam alikum wa rahmatullahi wa barakatuhu,
Dear brother alaf bhai saheb thanks for bringing such a great information with authentic hadiths and from quran. Jazakallahu khair. Allah ap ko lambi umar deh, deen wo duniya kamiyab banaye . ameen.suma ameen ya rabil 'alameen.

Yes all Sahabas Rizwan allahi thaalah ajmaeen had the imaan of Hayat-un-Nabi Sal-lal-lahu alaihi Wa Sallam and same way Auliyas of the Ummat have the same Aqeedah. This is a part of Imaan. If anybody rejects and Disrespect the Prophets and the Auliyas he is out of Imaan.

Ashaab-e-Kahf were Ahl-lullahs ( Pious people Friends of Allah ) the cave in which they slept was an example like big grave. Allah wanted to show to the people how his friends are always alive and he can keep them alive So Allah Subhaanahu Thaalah kept Ashaab-e-Kahf  alive for 309 years in the cave. Even the dog which was loyal to Ashaab-e-Kahf  was also alive for 309 years in the cave. The cave was like a open grave. Sun changed its directions for 309 years as per allah's grace. Huzoor e kareem sal-lal-lahu alaihi wa sallam was asked by allah to explain more about this Waqiya of Ashaab-e-Kahf to the Sahabas Rizwan allahi thaalah alaihi ajmaeen So that generations  coming in the ummat may learn the lesson that allah can keep his friends alive and even who are dogs of Auliyas gain the status or some favour because of the auliyas. The Ashaab-e-kahf and their dog were alive in the cave and they use to turn their sleeping positons ( Karwath) every 6 months. In the same way anbiyas and auliyas are also alive in the mazars.

There is a hadith shareef that huzoor kareem sallallahu alaihi wa sallam says when we go to the ataar ( perfume sellers), he will just make you to smell different perfumes or else he will put some ataar on your hand. Similary Sohabaat of Saleheens ( auliyas ) will defenitely benefit you. Same benefit you will get as the dog got and the Zikr of dog has come in the Ayats of  Quran Kareem that too in a very important surah which is recited every Friday. Allahs likes his auliyas. So this surah has lot of fazilaats on recitations.

Even many dogs , birds and animals use to recognise anbiyas and auliyas and  use to love and respect the auliyas ( saleheens ). But today its a shame on the people how speak disrepectful wording to anbiyas and auliyas without complete knowledge of quran and hadith.

( The above are few points from the top speeches of Hazrat Tahir ul Qadri Damantu Barkatuhu . For further more details on the greatness of auliyas and Saleheens listen to the speech "Dehliz-e-Willaiat Say Nisbaat-e-Saggana" and Waliyon ki Pechaan in the light of quran and sahih Buqari shareef )

ma min aHadin yusallimu `alayya illa radda ilayy-Allahu rûHi Hatta arudda `alayhi al-salâm

"No-one greets me except Allah has returned my soul to me so that I can return his salâm".

From Abu Hurayra, in Abu Dawud with a sound (SaHeeH) chain. This hadith has been adduced by the scholars as the legal proof for the validity and modality of visiting and greeting the Prophet , although the hadith does not mention the necessity of physically visiting the Prophet in Madina.

A note about the translation of "has returned": Suyuti said that "radda" means `ala al-dawâm," i.e. permanently, and not temporarily: in other words, Allah does not return the rûH and take it back, then return it again and then take it back again, but He returned it to the Prophet permanently, and the Prophet is alive permanently.

Sakhawi, Ibn Hajar al-`Asqalâni's student, said: "As for us (Muslims) we believe and we confirm that he is alive and provided for IN HIS GRAVE" (al-qawl al-badee` p. 161).

Ibn al-Qayyim said in al-RûH p. 58: "It is obligatory knowledge to know that his body is in the earth tender and humid (i.e. as in life), and when the Companions asked him:

'How is our greeting presented to you after you have turned to dust' he replied:
'Allah has defended the earth from consuming the flesh of Prophets,'
and if his body was not in his grave he would not have given this answer."
Ibn Hajar al-Haythami wrote in al-jawhar al-munaZZam (?):

"tawâtarat al-adillatu wa al-nuqûlu bi anna al-MuSTafa Hayyun Tariyyu... wa Sawmun thumma Hajjun kulla `âmin yaTTahhiru li al-Salâti bi mâ'i ghaythi" which means:

"The proofs and the transmitted texts have been established as authentic in the highest degree that the Prophet is alive and tender... that he fasts and performs pilgrimage every year, and that he purifies himself with water which rains on him."

Qadi `Iyad cites it in "al-Shifa" (1:56 of the Amman edition) and Suyuti said in his "Manahil al-safa fi takhrij ahadith al-shifa" (Beirut 1988/1408) p. 31 (#8): "Ibn Abi Usama cites it in his Musnad from the hadith of Bakr ibn `Abd Allah al-Mazni, and al-Bazzar from the hadith of Ibn Mas`ud with a sound (sahih) chain."

It is cited in Subki's Shifa' al-siqâm fi ziyarat khayr al-anâm

[The Healing of the Sick Concerning the Visit of the Best of Creation],

where he mentions that Bakr ibn Abd Allah al-Mazini reported it, and Ibn al-Jawzi mentions it through Bakr and then again through Anas ibn Malik in the penultimate chapter of the penultimate section of al-Wafa, both huffaz without giving the isnad. However, Ibn al-Jawzi specifies in the introduction of al-Wafa that he only included sound traditions in his bûk. He also mentions the version through Aws ibn Aws: "The actions of human beings are shown to me every Thursday on the night of (i.e. preceding) Friday." See also FatH al-Bâri 10:415, al-Mundhiri's Targheeb wa al-Tarheeb 3:343, and Ahmad 4:484.

Ibn Hajar says in FatH al-Bâri 6:379: "Abu al-Shaykh cites it with a good chain (sanad jayyid)," and Bayhaqi mentions it in Hayât al-anbiyâ with "ublightuhu" in the end.

Man zara qabri wajabat lahu shafa`ati.

"Whoever visits my grave, it becomes incumbent upon me to intercede for him."

Narrated by al-Daraqutni, al-Dulabi, al-Bayhaqi, Khatib al-Baghdadi, al-`Uqayli, Ibn `Adiy, Tabarani, and Ibn Khuzaymah in his Sahih, all through various chains going back to Musa ibn Hilal al-`Abdiyy from Ubayd Allah Ibn Umar, both from Nafi`, from Ibn `Umar.

Dhahabi declared this chain hasan (fair) as narrated, in "Mizan al- i`tidal," vol. 4, p. 226: "Huwa salih al-hadith" which means:"He -- Musa ibn Hilal -- is good in his narrations." Al-Sakhawi confirmed him in the "Maqasid al-hasana", while al-Subki declared it sahih according to Samhudi in Sa`adat al-dârayn 1:77.

Ibn `Adiyy said: "He [Musa ibn Hilal] is most likely acceptable; other people have called him 'unknown' and this is not true... He is one of the shuyukhs of Imam Ahmad and most of them are trustworthy." al-Kamil fi al-Du`afa (6:2350). Albani declared him "thabit al-riwaya" (of established reliability) in his Irwa' 4:338. About `Ubayd Allah ibn `Umar al-`Umari: - Dhahabi calls him "saduq hasan al-hadith" [truthful, of fair narrations] al-Mughni 1:348; - Sakhawi says of him "salih al-hadith" [of sound narrations] al-tuhfat al-latifat 3:366; - Ibn Mu`in said to Darimi about him: "salih thiqat" [sound and reliable] al-kamil 4:1459.

Ibn Khuzayma narrated it in his Sahih but mentioned its weakness. Ibn al Kharrat and

Taqi al-Subki declared it sound (sahih). Daraqutni and Tabarani also narrate it with the

wording: "Whoever visits me with no other need than visiting me, it is my duty to

be his intercessor on the Day of judgment"
One version has: "It is Allah's duty

that I be his intercessor on the Day of Judgment."

Ibn al-Subki declared it sound.

"Whoever visits my grave, my intercession will be guaranteed for him."

nevertheless said that they strengthened each other and declared the chain jayyid (good) as narrated, in Mizan al-i`tidal, vol. 4, p. 226: "Huwa salih al-hadith" which means: "He (Musa ibn Hilal) is good in his narrations." That is: the hadith is hasan.

Sakhawi confirmed him in the Maqasid al hasana,

while al-Subki declared it sahih according to Samhudi in Sa`adat al darayn 1:77.

Ibn`Adi said in al-Kamil fi al-Du`afa" (6:2350): "He (Musa ibn Hilal) is most likely acceptable; other people have called him "unknown" and this is not true... He is one of the shuyukhs of Imam Ahmad and most of them are trustworthy.

This is one of the proof-texts adduced by the ulama of Islam to derive the obligation or recommendation of visiting the Prophet's grave and seeking him as wasila (intermediary/means). See the chapter on visiting the Prophet's grave in Nawawi's
Book al-Adhkar and in Qadi Iyad's book al Shifa.

The emphasis and encouragement on visiting his noble grave is mentioned in numerous hadiths, and it would suffice to show this if there was only the hadith whereby the truthful and God-confirmed Prophet promises that his intercession among other things becomes obligatory for whoever visits him, and the Imams are in complete agreement from the time directly after his passing until our own time that this is among the best acts of drawing near to Allah.

Sakhawi said in al-Qawl al-badi` (p. 160):

This hadith has been narrated from Ibn Mas’ud by Al-Bazzar in his Musnad(1:397) with a chain declared sound by Imam Al-Suyuti in Manahil Al-Safa (pg.31, #8),

In every Salaat, we recite:

“At-tahyaatu lillaahi was-salawaatu wat-tayyibaatu as-salaamu ‘alayka ayyuhan-nabiyyu wa rahmatullaahi wa barakaatuhu as-salaamu ‘alaynaa wa ‘alaa ‘ibaadillaah-is-saaliheen ash-hadu an laa ilaaha illallaahu wahdahu laa shareeka lahu wa ashhadu anna Muhammadan ‘abduhu wa rasooluhu”

The word “’alayka” is used. The ending “-ka” translates into “You” and it means that

you are talking to the person and he is listening to you. Also, you use the

word “ayyuha” for addressing him, meaning “O`”. So it translates “Peace be upon

you, O` Prophet, and the Mercy/Blessings upon you!” therefore, again, the Prophet

Sallallahu alaihi wasallam, is proven to be alive and hearing even after his apparent

demise

The following are the ahadith of the Prophet Muhammad Sallallahu alaihi wasallam speaking with the dead:

“The Prophet(alayhi salaat wa salaam) ordered that the bodies of the idolaters slain

on the day of Badr be thrown into a well whose interior was encased with stones,

then he approached the well and began addressing the unbelievers by their names

and fathers’ names, saying: “O So-and-so son of So-and-so, and So-and-so son of So-

and-so: it would have been easier if you had obeyed Allah and His Messenger. We

have found what our Lord promised to be true; have you found what your Lord

promised to be true?” To which `Umar said: “O Messenger of Allah , why speak to

lifeless bodies?” And he replied: “By Him in whose hand is the soul of Muhammad,

you do not hear my words better than they do.”

Moulana Zakariyah mentions in Fazaail-e-Aamaal, “Shaikh Abu Ya’kub Sanusi says: ‘One of my disciples came to me and said: ‘I shall die tomorrow in the afternoon.’ The following day, the man came to the Holy Masjid at Makkah, observed his Zuhr Salaat, made ‘Tawaaf’ of the Holy Ka’bah, then went a little farther away from the Ka’bah and gave up his soul. I washed his body and arranged his burial. When I laid him in the grave, he opened his eyes. I asked him in surprise, ‘Is there life after death?’ He replied: ‘I am alive and he who is a true lover of Allah never dies.”

He responded by saying: "There is nothing wrong with it."" `Abd Allah also asked Imam Ahmad about the man who touches the Prophet's minbar and kisses it for blessing, and who does the same with the grave, or something to that effect, intending thereby to draw closer to Allah. He replied: "There is nothing wrong with it."

He stood at the feet of Prophet (Peace be upon him) and said: Peace be upon you O Prophet, then he offered greetings to Abu Bakr and Umar (Ridhwan Allaho Ajmain), he then turned towards the Prophet again and said: O Messenger of Allah, May my parents be taken ransom for you, I have come in your court because I am filled with sins and mistakes, so that I can make you a waseela infront of Allah so that you can intercede for me, because Allah has said in his Book: And We have not sent any Messenger but that he must be obeyed by the Command of Allah. In his Kitab ul Adhkaar: Imam Nawawi [rahmatullahi alaih]

Section: Chapter regarding Visit to the Tomb of the Messenger of Allah (Salallaho alaihi wasalam), and the Dhikr made there"

It should be known that “EVERYONE” who performs the hajj should set out to visit the Messenger of Allah (Salallaho alaihi wasalam), “WHETHER IT IS ON ONE’S

WAY OR NOT” because visiting him (Salallaho alaihi wasalam) is one of the most important acts of worship, the most rewarded of efforts, and best of goals.

When one sets out to perform the visit, one should do much of the blessings and peace upon him (salallaho alaihi wasalam) on the way. And when one’s eye

falls on the trees of Medina, and its sanctum and landmarks, one should increase sending the blessings and peace upon the Prophet (Allah bless him and give

him peace), asking Allah Most High to benefit one by one’s “VISIT TO HIM” (Allah bless him and give him peace)...and grant one felicity in this world and the

next through it. One should say,"O Allah, open for me the doors of Your mercy, and bestow upon me, through the visit to the Grave of Your prophet (Allah

bless him and give him peace), that which You have bestowed upon Your friends, those who obey You. Forgive me and show me mercy, O Best of Those Asked"

Many have stated this tradition. One of them is Abū Mansūr Sabbāgh who writes in his book al-Hikāyāt-ul-mashhūrah that, according to ‘Utbī, once he was sitting beside the Prophet’s grave when a bedouin came and he said, “Peace be on you, O Allah’s Messenger. I have heard that Allah says: ‘(O beloved!) And if they had come to you, when they had wronged their souls, and asked forgiveness of Allah, and the Messenger also had asked forgiveness for them, they (on the basis of this means and intercession) would have surely found Allah the Granter of repentance, extremely Merciful.’ I have come to you, asking forgiveness for my sins and I make you as my intermediary before my Lord and I have come to you for this purpose.”
.
Then he recited these verses:
,

“O, the most exalted among the buried people who improved the worth of the plains and the hillocks! May I sacrifice my life for this grave which is made radiant by you, (the Prophet,) the one who is (an embodiment) of mercy and forgiveness.”

Then the bedouin went away and I fell asleep. In my dream I saw the Holy Prophet He said to me: O ‘Utbī, the bedouin is right, go and give him the good news that Allah has forgiven his sins

(Tafsir ibn e khatir for 4:64 )

Qur'an States:

And say not of those who are slain (martyred) in the way of Allah, “they are dead”, nay, they are living, though you perceive it not” [Surah al-Baqarah, 154]

Of course, it goes without saying that the position of the Prophets (عليه السلام) is above and beyond the status of those who are martyred in Allah's way. This, however, implicates that he (صلى الله عليه وسلم) is alive too.

Imam Ibn Hajar al-Asqalani (Allah have mercy on him) states in his monumental commentary of Sahih al-Bukhari, Fath al-Bari: "When the living of the martyrs is proven from the text of the Qur’an, then this is also proven from a analogical point of view. And the Prophets are superior then the martyrs"

[Fath al-Bari, Volume 006: Page No. 379]

Qadi Shawkawni writes: "In the Qur'an it is mentioned that martyrs are alive and food is provided for them. The Prophets and righteous people are a lot higher in status than them so what will be their place? It has been proven through Ahadith that Prophets are alive in their graves. Both Imam at-Tirmidhi and Imam al-Bayhaqi have said that these are authentic Ahadith"

The prophets are alive in their graves living the ‘real’ life which they had in this world. [Naseem ur Rayaadh: Vol. 1 Pg. 196]

Also, one of the major incidents that prove this, is the incident of Me’raj (Ascension of the Prophet (صلى الله عليه وسلم) to the heavens), where he met and conversed with many Prophets. He also led them in prayer in Masjid al-Aqsa.

Mullah Ali Qari on Hadhir o Nadhir: [And he (Nuh) shall reply, ‘Muhammad and his Community’] This means that his Community is witness while he vouches for them, but his mention came first out of reverence (للتعظيم). It not Ba’eed (i.e. impossible) that the Prophet (Peace be upon him) is himself witness for Nuh, since it is a context of help and Allah Most High said [When Allah made (His) convenant with the Prophets] until He said [you shall believe in him and you shall help him] (3:81). In this there is a remarkable warning that the Prophet (Peace be upon him) “IS PRESENT AND WITNESSING” in the Greatest Inspection (وفيه تنبيه نبيه أنه حاضر ناظر في ذلك العرض الأكبر), when the Prophets are brought, Nuh being the first, and the latter’s witnesses are brought, namely, this Community.

1) It is narrated in Sahih Muslim by Anas Ibn Malik (rahmatullahi alaih) that the Messenger of Allah (Sallallahu alaihi wasallam) said: “I passed by Moses during my Night journey and saw him offering prayer in his grave.

2) It is narrtaed by Abu Nua'ym in his Hiliya from Ibn Abbas (rahmatullahi alaih) who heard the Prophet (Peace be upon him) say: I passed by Moses and saw him standing in prayer.

3) It is narrated in Musnad of Abu Yal'a and by Baihaqi in his book "Hayat al Anbiya" from Anas (rahmatullahi alaih) that the Porphet (sallallahu alaihi wasallam) said: The Prophets are alive in their graves and praying.

Quran states : [Surah al-Baqarah, 154]

And say not of those who are slain (martyred) in the way of Allah, “they are dead”, nay, they are living, though you perceive it not”

Allah Ta'ala states in the Holy Quran: "And say not of those who are slain in the Way of Allah 'They are dead'. Nay, they are living, though you perceive it not". (al-Baqarah: 154)

"Think not of those who are slain in Allah's Way as dead. Nay, they are alive, finding their sustenance in the Presence of their Lord". (al-Ale' Imraan: 169)

The above two Ayahs were revealed after the Battle of Badr. If the Shuhada are not "dead", how can we say that the greatest Apostle, Sayyiduna Rasoolullah (sallal laahu alaihi wasallam), is no more amongst us

Referring to the Messengers, Allah Ta'ala says in the Holy Quran: "And ask those of our Mesengers, whom we sent before you, 'Did We appoint any other god except the All-Affectionate, to be worshipped'?" (Part 25, Ruku 10) This verse proves that the Ambiya (alaihimus salaam) are alive because Allah Taala commands us to ask the Messengers about all matters. If they had passed away and mixed with the soil, surely, we would not have been commanded to ask them about anything.

Sayyiduna Sheikh Abdul Haq Muhadith Delhwi (alaihir rahmah) wrote: "There is no death for the Ambiya (alaihimus salaam). They are alive and existing. For them is that one death that has come only once. After this, their souls are put back into their bodies and the life that they had on earth is given back to them."

(Takmeelul Imaan)

The greatest proof concerning the Ambiya (alaihimus salaam) being alive is that they make Ibaadah in their graves. They perform their Salaah and they are well provided with food and drink. Like the Angels who are alive, but do not eat and drink.

(Mirkaat Shar Mishkaat)

[A/I`mran 3:101] And how can you disbelieve? Allah’s verses are recited to you and His Noble Messenger is present among you! And whoever takes the support of Allah is indeed guided to the right path.

Now read this carefully

The word "lives" has cleared all doubts. "Among you" has been generalised, meaning with every individual, wherever he or she may be regardless of time. Man's

vision and power of hearing is restricted, but it is not so in the case of Sayyiduna Rasoolullah (sallal laahu alaihi wasallam). His powers are far beyond

imagination. If somebody says, "Where is the Prophet (sallal laahu alaihi wasallam)? I cannot see him! Why must I stand and read Salaam?" Surely, this statement

is absurd because none of us has seen Allah Ta'ala and the Angels. Kiraaman Katibeen are two Angels constantly present with every individual. Can we deny

their existence merely because we did not see them?

It was declared in a Hadith, "When a person greets me, Allahu Ta'ala sends my soul to my body and I hear his greeting." Some people quoting this Hadith say that the Prophet (sallal laahu alaihi wasallam) is not alive since his soul returns to his body only when he is greeted.

Imam Jalaal'uddeen as-Suyuti (alaihir rahmah) said in the book "Anba' al-adhkiya' fi hayat il-anbiya" that "radda" means "ala al-dawam", i.e. permanently, and not temporarily: in other words, Allah does not return the soul and take it back, then return it again and then take it back again, but He has returned it to Rasoolullah (sallal laahu alaihi wasallam) permanently, and the Prophet (sallal laahu alaihi wasallam) is alive permanently, not intermittently as some ignorant people have suggested.

It is written in the Sahihain of al-Bukhari and Muslim: "Allahu ta'ala sent all the prophets to our Prophet on the Miraj night. He became the imam, and they performed two rak'as of salat." The salat includes bowing (ruku') and prostration (sajda). And this shows that they performed salat corporally, with their bodies. Musa's ('alaihi 's-salam) performing salat in his grave also indicates this.

It was declared in the hadith ash-Sharif quoted in the book Mishkat [Last volume, section on the Miraj chapter one.] on the authority of Muslim, "Near the Kaba, the disbelievers of the Quraish asked me how the Bait al-muqaddas was. I had not looked at it carefully. I become very stressful. Allahu ta'ala showed me. I saw myself among prophets. Musa ('alaihi 's-salam) was performing salat standing up. He was thin. His hair was not untidy or drooping. He was like a brave young man of the Shan'a tribe [of the Yaman]. 'Isa ('alaihi 's-salam) looked like Urwat ibn Masud as-Saqafi."

These hadiths prove that prophets are alive in Allah's audience. Their bodies have become ethereal like their souls. They are not dense or solid. They may become visible in material and spiritual worlds. It is for this reason that prophets can be seen in soul and body.

The hadith ash-Sharif explains that Musa and 'Isa ('alaihima 's-Salam) were performing salat, which involves physical actions that are to be done with the body, not with the soul. Muhammad's ('alaihi 's-salam) description of Musa ('alaihi 's-salam) with medium height, lean and thin, and with tidy hair shows that he saw not his soul bot his body.

Said ibn Musayyab said, "The adhan and iqama were heard being recited in the al-Hujrat an-Nabawiyya when the adhan could not be called and salat could not be performed in Masjid an-Nabi," on the day when the men of Yazid tortured the people of al-Madinat al-munawwara -the 'Harra' event that took place in 61 A.H.

Ibn Taymiyya [d. 728 A.H. (1328)], too, quoted this in his book Iqtida' as-sirati 'l-mustaqim.

Imam Sakhawi (rahmatullahi alaih) the Great student of Shaykh ul Islam Ibn Hajr Asqalani (rahmatullahialaih) writes:

Abu Zar and Malik's Hadith on Miraj proves that Prophet Muhammad (sallallahu alaihi wasallam) met group of Prophets (alaihis salam) on sky, You (sallallahu alaihi

wasallam) talked to them and they (alaihis salam) talked to You (sallallahu alaihi wasallam), this all is sound (sahih) and their is no confusion about it any where,

Messenger of Allah (sallallahu alaihi wasallam) saw Musa (alaihis salam) and others in graves offering Salah, then He (sallallahu alaihi wasallam) saw Musa (alaihis

salam) and other Prophets (alaihis salam) at Bayt-ul-Muqadas, then Holy Prophet (sallallahu alaihi wasallam) was taken to the skies, then Prophet (Peace Be

Upon Him) also saw them in the skies just as Messenger of Allah (sallallahu alaihi wasallam) saw them IN THE GRAVES so does the presence of Prophets (alaihis

salam) at those places was logical after they died.

Hafiz ‘Iraqi says the chain of narration (isnad) of this hadith is excellent (jayyid).

Imam Hafiz Haythami also mentions the same in Majma’ al-Zawa’id and writes that Imam Qastallani, the commentator of Sahih al-Bukhari, considers it to be authentic (sahih).

The great hadith scholar, Mulla ‘Ali al-Qari has also mentioned it to be authentic in Sharh al-Shifa and writes that Imam Jalal al-Din al-Suyuti has mentioned it to be authentic in his books.

Imam Munawi has mentioned it to be authentic in Fayd al-Qadir, likewise,

Imam Zurqani in Sharh al-Mawahib has considered it to be authentic

and so has Imam Shihab al-Khafaji in Sharh al-Shifa.

In addition, the hadith has been narrated mursal2 from a different chain of narration — this has been mentioned by Hafiz Isma’il al-Qadi in Juz’ al-Salat ‘ala ‘l-Nabi. Shaykh Nasir al-Din al-Albani writes that it is mursal sahih and Hafiz Ibn ‘Abd al-Hadi al-Hanbali has mentioned it authentic in his book Al-Sarim al-Munki. The great hadith scholar ‘Allama ‘Abd Allah al-Ghumari has also penned a booklet, entitled Nihayat al-Amal fi Sihha wa Sharh Hadith ‘Ard al-’Amal, solely on this hadith.

Further to this, Hafiz Ibn al-Jawzi — who has been quoted by Dr ‘Abidi, and who is considered to be among those hadith scholars known for their critical research and stringency — has penned a brilliant two-volume book on the Prophet’s life, entitled Al-Wafa bi Ahwal al-Mustafa (Allah bless him and give him peace). In its introduction to the book, Hafiz Ibn al-Jawzi writes that he has only included authentic hadiths and kept it completely clear of lies. Hafiz Ibn al-Jawzi also devotes an individual chapter comprising three hadiths to the subject — Al-Bab al-Sabi’ wa w’l-Arba’un fi ‘Ard ‘Amal Ummatihi ‘Alayh (The Forty-Seventh Chapter Regarding the Presentation of His Umma’s Action to Him).

“With all these truths, it is also absolute that the Prophet’s blessed soul is in the Highest Heaven (A’la ‘Illiyyin) at the Rafiq al-A’la together with the souls of

the other messengers (peace be upon them). Hence, the soul is there and is in connection with his pure body, which is in his blessed grave. The

relationship between the soul and the body is such that the Prophet offers prayer (salat) in his noble grave and responds to the greetings of those who visit

him.
On the basis of this relationship between the soul and the body, he saw Sayyiduna Musa (peace be upon him) offering prayer standing in his grave.”[/

Nawawi relates this story of al-`Utbiyy in his book al-Adhkaar:

"Al-`Utbiyy said:

"As I was sitting by the grave of the Prophet (s), a Beduin Arab came and said: Peace be upon you, O Messenger of God! I have heard God saying: If they had only, when they were unjust to themselves, come unto thee and asked Allah's forgiveness, and the Messenger had asked forgiveness for them, they would have found Allah indeed Oft-returning, Most Merciful, (4:64), so I have come to you asking forgiveness (of God) for my sin, seeking your intercession with my Lord [mustashfi`an bika ila rabbi].
"Then he began to recite (poetry):

'O best of those whose bones are buried in the deep earth,
And from whose fragrance the depth and the height have become sweet,
May I be sacrificed for a grave which thou inhabit,
And in which are found purity and bounty and munificence!.'"

"Then he left, and I dozed and saw the Prophet (s) in my sleep. He said to me: 'O `Utbiyy, run after the Beduin and give him glad tidings that God has forgiven him.'" And God Almighty knows best."

Ibn al- Qayyim uses the words ratibun matirun ("moist and fresh" i.e. as alive as can be) in his book al-Ruh. His grave is better than paradise. He is returning our greetings of peace and interceding for the Community, and his grave is more blessed than the Kaaba.

"'Abdullah ibn 'Abbas (may Allah be pleased with him) said that in his dream he saw the Prophet (may Allah bless him and grant him peace) and there was dust upon him, from travelling. I asked him, 'What is this?'He replied, 'My grandson Husayn and his Companions have been martyred, and I have collected the blood spilt by them and I shall present this blood to Allah Most High.' This is an authentic narration.

"Umm al-Mu'minin Salma (may Allah be pleased with her) states: 'I saw the Messenger of Allah (may Allah bless him and grant him peace) in my dream; there was dust upon his hair and beard. I asked him: 'O Messenger of Allah, why is there dust on you?' He replied:'I am returning from Karbala' "

So who should we believe, the Prophet or these Salafis?? Remember prayer is Amal of “BOTH BODY AND SOUL” had the Prophet been alive in Barzakh only (like everyone else) then hadith would not have conditioned praying with grave.

Above all it is proven from Sahih Muslim that Prophet (Peace be upon him) on his night journey saw Musa (Alaihis salam) praying “INSIDE HIS GRAVE”

Imam Shaa’faiee (RadiAllahu anhu) states: “I gain the blessings from the grave Imam Abu Hanifa (RadiAllahu anhu) and whenever I get into trouble, then I offer two rakats and then I visit his grave, and pray their for the solution, and ALHAMDO LILLAH my needs are always fulfilled.”

Imam as-Subki (rahmatullahi alaih) narrates from Ibn Furaak (rahmatullahi alaih) in his Tabaqat that Prophet (sallallahu alaihi wasallam) is alive in his grave and “HE IS A PROPHET FOREVER” and this is based on “REALITY” not on “MAJAAZ”..

Imam Zarqani (rahmatullahi alaih) explains: The Prophet (sallallahu alaihi wasallam) is (Haqiqi Nabi) because he has “LIFE IN HIS GRAVE” and he offers prayer with Adhaan and Iqamah.

Ibn Aqeel al-Hanbli (rahmatullahi alaih) said: The Prophet (sallallahu alaihi wasallam) spends time with his wives and he combines with them in such a way which is better than worldly relation. “IBN AQEEL SAID THIS BY TAKING AN OATH AND THIS IS SOMETHING OBVIOUS AND THERE IS NOTHING ABSTAINING FROM IT”

[Sharh al Zarqani ala Mawahib al-Laduniya of Imam Qastallani (Volume No. 8, Page No. 358)]

Alhamdulillah, Quran, Sunnah and great Islamic scholars establish the "HAQIQI" life of Anbiya in their graves, not just Barzakhi as some ignorant claim.

It is narrated on the authority of Abu Huraira that the Messenger of Allah (صلى الله عليه وسلم) said: I found myself in Hijr and the Quraish were asking me about my might journey. I was asked about things pertaining to Bait-ul-Maqdis which I could not preserve (in my mind). I was very much vexed, so vexed as I had never been before. Then Allah raised it (Bait-ul-Maqdis) before my eyes. I looked towards it, and I gave them the information about whatever they questioned me I also saw myself among the group of apostles.

I saw Moses (عليه السلام) saying prayer and found him to be a well-built man as if he was a man of the tribe of Shanu'a. I saw Jesus son of Mary (عليه السلام) offering prayer, of all of men he had the closest resemblance with 'Urwa b. Masu'd al-Thaqafi. I saw Ibrahim (عليه السلام) offering prayer; he had the closest resemblance with your companion (the Prophet himself) amongst people. When the time of prayer came I led them. When I completed the prayer, someone said: Here is Malik, the keeper of the Hell; pay him salutations. I turned to him, but he preceded me in salutation.

Translation: It is narrated from Ibn Uyaina (rahmatullahi Alaih)’s meternal cousin Fudayl (rahmatullahi Alaih) that he got very sad on death of his father and he used to do Ziyarah of his Qabr everyday, however by the will of Allah after sometime he did not visit it often.once when he came and sat near the grave he fell asleep and saw in the dream that his father’s grave has been opened and he is covered in a sheet with a look which is of dead people.

Seeing this he started to cry. (His father) asked: My son why didn’t you visit me everyday? He replied: Are you aware of my visitation? (His father) said: I was aware of your arrival every time, your visitation and your Dua is source of happiness not only for me but also those who are buried near me. After this I (again) started to visit his Qabr very often. .

I repented of them after my father's death. I gave up my impetuosity. Once I committed a fault. Thereupon, I dreamt of my father saying, 'Oh my son! Al-Hafidh Ibn Jawzi in Kitab al Wafa

Abu Bakr al-Minqari said: I was with (al-hafiz) al-Tabarani and (al-hafiz) Abu al-Shaykh in the Prophet's  Masjid, in some difficulty. We became very hungry. That day and the next we didn't eat. When it was time for `isha, I came to the Prophet's grave and I said: "O Messenger of Allah, we are hungry, we are hungry" (ya rasullallah al-ju` al-ju`)! Then I left. Abu al-Shaykh said to me: Sit. Either there will be food for us, or death. I slept and Abu al-Shaykh slept. al-Tabarani stayed awake, researching something. Then an `Alawi (a descendant of `Ali) came knocking at the door with two boys, each one carrying a palm-leaf basket filled with food. We sat up and ate. We thought that the children would take back the remainder but they left everything behind. When we finished, the `Alawi said: O people, did you complain to the Prophet? I saw him in my sleep and he ordered me to bring something to you.

Imam Jalaluddin al-Suyuti [rahimullah] Was Asked

Do the Dead recognize their visitors and know their states in life?
Do the Dead hear what the living say?
Do the souls of the Dead meet and see each other?

He replied to all Questions : "YES", and produced many Hadith in support.

which some people quote about the Dead not hearing, the learned Suyuti says that it is an allegorical statement (an-Nafi Ja'a ala m'ana al-Majaz). and the actual meaning of it is that "They cannot listen to Guidance (Ma'naha Sama` Huda) i.e. they are dead and they cannot be guided now".

Quran states Verily, you cannot make the dead to hear , nor can you make the deaf to hear the call, when they flee, turning their backs

(27:80 and 30:52)

Question :Does above verse mean that Dead (muslims and non muslims cannot hear)

Answer : This verse has more of a methaphoric meaning, secondly it refers to the kufaar not muslims in this case

Next verse says: Nor can you lead the blind out of their error, you can only make to hear those who believe in Our Ayât, and who have submitted

[Quran 27:81 and 30:53]

this doesn't only refute the argument regarding first verse which some put forward that dead cannot hear in any circumstances but also makes it clear that muslims can hear as Allah says himself in the next verse , you can only make to hear those who believe in Our Ayât,

now let us go and check various authentic tafsirs regarding this verse

Tafsir Ibn Kathir on this verse

as for verse 27:80/1 and 30:52/3 The same applies to those over whose hearts is a veil and in whose ears is deafness of disbelief. Allah says:

(nor can you make the deaf to hear the call, when they flee, turning their backs. Nor can you lead the blind out of their error. You can only make to hear those who believe in Our Ayat, so they submit (became Muslims).) meaning, those who have hearing and insight will respond to you, those whose hearing and sight are of benefit to their hearts and who are humble towards Allah and to the Message that comes to them through the mouths of the Messengers, may peace be upon them.

From the above it seems these verse are not for those in Grave even , its talking about non muslims in the world who don't get hidaya and don't listen to word of Allah with an open heart, whos Hearts are dead,

People quote these verses out of context without going into Authentic tafsirs or reading the next verse even, peace

[Fatir 35:22] And not equal are the living and the dead! Indeed Allah causes them to listen *, whomever He wills; and you cannot make those who are in the graves ** listen. (* Listen to guidance **The disbelievers are referred to as dead, whose fates are sealed.)

In the above verse the first part is talking about Disbelievers and muslims when it comes to Nor are (alike) the living and the dead and Tafsirs will shortly prove it,

From the  second part Allah says Verily, Allâh makes whom He will hear , this clearly indicated that whom Allah Ta'ala wills he can hear and its not impossible , its already proved from several hadiths that not only believers but even non muslims can hear better then living from the grave.

Tafsir Ibn Kathir on this verse

(Verily, Allah makes whom He wills to hear,) means. He guides them to listen to the proof and accept it and adhere it.

(but you cannot make hear those who are in graves.) means, `just as the dead as disbelievers and ended up in the graves, so too you cannot help these idolators who are decreed to be doomed, and you cannot guide them.'

Yahya related to me from Malik from Abd ar-Rahman ibn Abi Sasaca that he had heard that Amr ibn al-Jamuh al-Ansari and Abdullah ibn Umar al-Ansari, both of the tribe of Banu Salami, had their grave uncovered by a flood. Their grave was part of what was left after the flood. They were in the same grave, and they were among those martyred at Uhud. They were dug up so that they might be moved. They were found unchanged. It was as if they had died only the day before. One of them had been wounded, and he had put his hand over his wound and had been buried like that. His hand was pulled away from his wound and released, and it returned to where it had been. It was forty-six years between Uhud and the day they were dug up.

Ahl as-Sunnah holds that the life of prophets in their graves is firmly established through authentic and explicit proofs.
The great hadith master, Imam Bayhaqi compiled them in a separate book. Imam Jalal Al-Suyuti, M.H. [1], also authored a book on this topic. May Allah Most High have mercy on them both. Ibn Hajar [2], M.H., says:

Al-Bayhaqi compiled a brilliant book regarding the life of prophets in their graves in which he mentions the hadith of Anas, “The prophets are alive in their graves praying”, which he [3] transmits from the channel of Yahya Ibn Abu Katheer, who is a rigorously authenticated transmitter, on the authority of Al-Mustalim Ibn Sa'eed, whom Ahmad and Ibn Hibban deem reliable, on the authority of Al-Hajjaj Al-Aswad (a.k.a. Ibn Abu Ziyad Al-Basri), whom Ahmad and Ibn Ma'een deem reliable, on the authority of Thabit, on the authority of him [4].

Abu Ya'la also transmits it in his Musnad from this avenue. Al-Bazzar transmits it, but it appears with him on the authority of Hajjaj Al-Sawwaf, which is an error. Al-Hajjaj Al-Aswad is the correct name, as is explicitly mentioned in the narration of Al-Bayhaqi, which he rigorously authenticates.

This hadith is an authentic, explicit text that establishes the life of prophets in their graves and that they pray in them. Imam Bayhaqi supports what is mentioned in this hadith with what has been established in Saheeh Muslim in terms of the narration of Hammad Ibn Salamah, on the authority of Anas, on the Prophet (Allah bless him and grant him peace), who said, “I passed by Moses at the red dune on the night in which I was transported [5] and he was standing in his grave praying.” He [6] also narrates it from another avenue on the authority of Anas. Al-Bayhaqi says:

If it is argued that this is specific to Moses, we say that we find supporting evidence in the hadith of Abu Hurayra, also in Saheeh Muslim, from the channel of Abdullah Ibn Al-Fadhl, on the authority of Abu Salamah, on the authority of Abu Hurayra (who promotes [7] it), “I found myself in the Hijr [8] and Quraish was asking me about my night journey ... and I found myself amidst a group of prophets and Moses was standing in prayer ... and Jesus Son of Mary was standing in prayer – the one who resembles him most being 'Urwa Ibn Mas'ud – and Abraham was standing in prayer – the one who resembles him most being your companion [8] – then the prayer time entered and I led them in it.”

In the hadith of Sa'eed Ibn Al-Musayyib, on the authority of Abu Hurayra, it mentions, “that he met them in Jerusalem and then the time of prayer entered, so our prophet (Allah bless him and grant him peace) led them and then they gathered in Jerusalem.” In the hadith of Abu Dharr and Malik Ibn Sa'sa'ah regarding the story of the Night Journey, it mentions that he met them in the heavens.

These channels are rigorously authenticated, so they can be correlated as him having seen Moses standing in prayer in his grave, then he and the mentioned prophets ascended to the heavens, where he met them, then they gathered in Jerusalem. The time for prayer entered, and our prophet (Allah bless him and grant him peace) led them. [Al-Bayhaqi] says, “Their praying at different times and in different places is not logically refutable, and it has been established through transmission, so it indicates their life.”

Ibn Hajar, M.H., transmits these words of Al-Bayhaqi and doesn't criticize them. Rather, he adds:

In my opinion, while their life is established through transmission, reason strengthens this, since martyrs are alive according to the text of the Qur'an, and prophets are better than martyrs.

Other supporting evidence for the hadith is found in what Abu Dawud transmits regarding the hadith of Abu Hurayra, which contains, “Pray for me, for surely, your prayers reach me wherever you are.” It's chain of narrators is rigorously authenticated. Abu Al-Shaykh transmits it in Kitab Al-Thawab with a good chain of narrators with the wording, “Whoever prays for me at my grave, I hear him, and whoever prays for me remotely, it is imparted to me.” Ibn Khuzayma and others have rigorously authenticated what is in Abu Dawud and Al-Nasa'i, on the authority Aws Ibn Aws (who promotes it), regarding the virtue of Friday, “'Increase in your prayers for me in it, for truly, your prayers are presented before me.' They said, 'Oh Messenger of Allah, how will our prayers be presented before you when you have decomposed?' He said, 'Allah has forbidden the earth to consume the bodies of prophets.'”

Narrated Abu Hurayra RadiAllahu anhu I heard the Prophet say: "By the one in Whose hand is Abu al-Qasim's soul, `Isa ibn Maryam shall descend as a just and wise ruler. He shall destroy the cross, slay the swine, eradicate discord and grudges, and money shall be offered to him but he will not accept it. Then he shall stand at my grave side and say: Ya Muhammad! and I will answer him.

Ibn Hajar al-`Asqalani cites it in al-Matalib al-`aliya (Kuwait, 1393/1973)

Abu Ya`la relates it with a sound (sahih) chain in his Musnad Volume No. 11, Page No. 462, Published by Dar ul Kutb al-iLmiyyah;

Another beautiful hadith proving bodies of pious muslims always remains safe.

Narrated 'Urwa RadiAllahu anhu. When the wall fell on them (i.e. graves) during the caliphate of Al-Walid bin 'Abdul Malik, the people started repairing it, and a foot appeared to them. The people got scared and thought that it was the foot of the Prophet. No-one could be found who could tell them about it till I ('Urwa) said to them, "By Allah, this is not the foot of the Prophet but it is the foot of Umar."

( sahih bukhari Book #23, Hadith #474)

This hadith clearly proves that even foot of Hadrat Umar [RadiAllahu anhu] along with His [RadiAllahu anhu] body remained as it was and didn't turned to dust as those of normal human beings do.

SUBHANALLAH, SUBHANALLAH.

A Sahabi (radhitallah anho) and 2nd Caliph Hadrat Umar (radhitallah anho) benefiting from intercession of Prophet

During the reign of Hazrat Umar (رضى الله عنه) a draught badly threatened the ummah. A person went to Prophet (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم)’s grave and sought for help. The Prophet (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) came into his dream, gave him "basharat" (glad tiding) of rain, and also asked him to warn Hazrat Umar (رضى الله عنه) about the coming threats. Hazrat Umar (رضى الله عنه), when listened his dream wept and assured that he would remain careful as much as possible.

Authenticity of above hadith

Here are those who called hadith sound

Ibn Taymiyyah has endorsed its authenticity in his book Iqtidā’-us-sirāt-il-mustaqīm mukhālifat ashāb-il-jahīm (p.373).

Ibn Kathīr has confirmed the soundness of its transmission in al-Bidāyah wan-nihāyah (5:167).

Ibn Abū Khaythamah narrated it with the same chain of transmission as quoted by Ibn Hajar ‘Asqalānī in al-Isābah fī tamyīz-is-sahābah (3:484),

Imam Ibn e Hajar (rah) writes in Fath-ul-bārī (2:495-6): “Ibn Abū Shaybah transmitted it with a sound chain of transmission and Sayf bin ‘Umar Tamīmī has recorded it in al-Futūh-ul-kabīr that the dreamer was a Companion known as Bilāl bin Hārith Muzanī.”

Qastallānī has remarked in al-Mawāhib-ul-laduniyyah (4:276) that Ibn Abū Shaybah has narrated it with a sound chain of transmission

Zurqānī has supported Qastallānī in his Commentary (11:150-1) and called its chain sound

The Prophet Shuaib's Alayhis salam's speech to the dead

Mentioned in the Qur'an:

[Aa`raf 7:91] Therefore the earthquake seized them - so at morning they remained lying flattened in their homes.

[Aa`raf 7:92] As if those who denied Shoaib had never lived in those homes; those who denied Shoaib, were themselves ruined.

[Aa`raf 7:93] So Shoaib turned away from them saying, "O my people! Indeed I did deliver my Lord’s message to you and gave you sound advice; so why should I grieve for the disbelievers?" (The people in the graves can hear the speech of those who are on earth.)

The word "O my people! is mentioned for those who died, it surely conveys the idea that they(non muslims) cannot only Hear but also alive in their grave ,

Imam Ibn Hajr al Asqalani (rahmatullahi alaih) said:

واحسن من هذا الجواب ان يقال ان حياته صلى الله عليه وسلم في القبر لايعقبها موت بل يستمر حيا والأنبياء احياء في قبورهم

Translation: The best answer in this regard is that Prophet (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) "IS ALIVE IN HIS GRAVE" and Death will never come to the Blessed Messenger of Allah (Peace be upon him), but he will remain alive, due to the fact that the Prophets remain alive in their graves

Alhamdulilla brother. Its is the belief of the tableegh jamaat that our Nabi e karrim SAW is dead and gone. This is a direct qoute from a wahabi masjid here in South Africa. Because of where i work the only masjid to attend for Jumah in that area is a Wahabi masjid. They very often make statements like these in their lectures. The imams are part if an organisation called the Jaamiatul-Ulama of south africa. Maazallah they proclaim the most beloved of Allah as dead. May Allah open their eyes to the Haqq

Translation: On the authority of Anas the Prophet (salallaho alaihi wasalam) said: "The Prophets are alive in their graves and praying"

[Musnad Abu Yala with Sahih Isnad, Volume No.6, Page No. 147, Hadith No. 3428] Imam al-Haythami after this hadith said: Abu Yala and Bazzar narrated it and all the narrators of Abu Yala are trustworthy [Majma al Zawaid Volume 8, Page No. 386, Hadith No. 13812]

Remember prayer in grave constitutes real life, because prayer is amal of both body and spirit.

This is why Imam al-Manawi (rahmatullahi alaih) said about Musa (alaihis salam) praying in his grave:

الحديث بظاهره يدل على أنه رآه رؤية حقيقية في اليقظة وأنه حي في قبره يصلي الصلاة التي يصليها في الحياة وذلك وذلك ممكن ولا مانع من ذلك

Translation: This hadith apparently proves that sight of Prophet (Peace be upon him) "WAS REAL" and he (Musa  Alaihis Salaam ) is ALIVE IN GRAVE AND PRAYING, LIKE THE ALIVE PRAY this is possible and there is nothing abstaining from it

[Faydh ul Qadeer (5/663)]

Allamah Samhoodi states in Wafaa-ul-Wafaa: "The dictates of all the proofs which are narrated regarding the Ambiya (Alayhimus Salaam) being alive in their graves is that they experience a physical life similar to their earthly life coupled with the ability of being connected to the world."
