AJMER: Three members of a family belonging to Allahabad, who were observing fast for the past 38 days on the premises of Ajmer dargah, died of starvation on Monday. Ten others, including two children aged 2 and 3, have been admitted to JLN Hospital and their condition was stated to be critical.

The surviving members claimed that they were observing a 40-day fast to overcome the influence of black magic' and remained unrepentent even after the incident. Though it was claimed that the fasting was similar to the Sufi practice of Chilla Kashi, dargah officials claimed that such harsh practices were against the teachings of Khwaja Moinuddhin Chishti.

According to sources, Mohammad Salam (14), Nausar (17) and Kaiser (28) were declared brought dead by the doctors of JLN Hospital in Ajmer. Nine others, identified as Ali Hussain (3), Farhan (2), Mohammad Mustafa, Munarvi Devi, Sher Ali, Gul Sher, Mohammad Kalam, Rizwan Sheikh and Nargis are undergoing treatment.

The well-educated middle class family was following the superstitious practice of keeping fast for 40 days, claiming that "it was as per the orders of the Khwaja," said an official.

The head of the family, Mohammad Mustafa (59), who himself was performing the fast, is an ex-merchant navy officer. Mustafa told TOI that his brother had performed some black magic on his family nearly four years ago. "Later, I had a dream that I should visit Ajmer dargah with family to overcome the evil spirits," Mustafa said at JLN Hospital. He said that from the day when the "witchcraft" was performed, everything was going wrong in his family.

Family members said that they were observing fast for the past 38 days and only two days were left to complete the "order" of the Khwaja. The family was staying at Bharat guest house near dargah for the past two-and-a-half months.

However, even after three deaths in the family, the other ailing members were unrepentant as they refused to accept treatment and pulled out the needles from their wrists. They claimed the treatment was disobedience of god's commands. The hospital staff had to struggle and persuade the family members to receive first aid.

"After coming to Ajmer, I again had a dream about a month-and-a-half ago that if the whole family observed fast for 40 days, normalcy would return to the family. After that, all of us did not eat or drink anything," said Mustafa.

"My father told us about the dream and the whole family started fasting. Most of the time we sat near astane' in the dargah for 20 to 23 hours a day," said Rizwan Sheikh, a member of the family.

When khadims and other people noticed the condition of the fasting family members, they asked them to eat something but all were adamant on their vows. "I requested and sat for an hour near them on Sunday and asked them to eat something but they refused," said Muzaffar Bharati, a social worker. Even the khadims were aware of their condition and continuously warned them. "Garib Nawaz does not teach these things and I warned him that this was against the teachings. I even persuaded them to drink water," said Natik Chishti, a khadim.

The incident has left the residents especially Muslim religious leaders shocked as they were united in their opinion that such a harsh practice was against the teachings of Garib Nawaz.

"Chilla Kashi means going into retreat for 40 days. During this period, the believer goes into remembrance of Allah through deep meditation to attain spiritual heights. However, there are no restrictions on having meals but a practitioner shouldn't indulge in any worldly affairs during this period," said Salman Chishty, an Ajmer-based sufi scholar. He, however, said that the practice is not allowed for common man. "A disciple is never allowed to practice Chilla Kashi until he spends a decade with his Sufi master," he added.

I have been reading and following this news from quite sometime now...

Family violated principles, say scholars :

JAIPUR: The incident of starvation deaths in Ajmer dargah  received wide condemnation from religious heads. They called the practice of consciously dying of hunger as un-Islamic' and uncalled' for.

The family started fasting more than a month ago. Even three children, aged between 2 and 14, were also forced to join the fasting of 40 days. They couldn't sustain hunger and collapsed on Monday afternoon.

The incident also started a debate on who all are eligible to follow the Sufi practice of Chilla Kashi. Syed Nazmul Hasan Chisthy, a Sufi scholar, said: "No common man is allowed to go into retreat by Sufi masters. As per the popular belief, a disciple is never allowed to practice Chilla Kashi until he spends a decade with his Sufi master."

He argued that if anyone goes into retreat, he should do it under the supervision of his immediate Sufi master. Pointing towards this case, he said that forcing children into the practice was a sin.

Syed Salman Chisthy, another Sufi scholar, further explained that during the meditation period, the believer goes into remembrance of Allah through deep meditation to attain spiritual heights. Fasting is observed between dawn and sunset. It is necessary for the believer to have early morning meals and food after magrib prayers, he said.

Let us know a little more about KHWAJA GARIB NAWAZ AJMERI..

Khwaja Muinuddin Chishti (1142-1236), founder of the Sufi Chishti
Order, was a Persian from Khorasan, but settled among the Hindus of
Rajasthan. His followers adopted the saffron color of the robes of the
Hindu Sages for their own coarse robes, and generally interchanged
ideas and rituals with them.

When asked "What is worship?," Muinuddin Chishti, founder of the
Chishti Order, responded,

"To listen to the plight of the oppressed,
To help the needy,
And to fill the stomachs of the hungry."

He also said,

"The man who does these three things may consider himself a friend of
Allah:
First he should have generosity like a river;
Secondly, kindness like the sun and,
Thirdly, humility like the earth. "

and,

"The man who is blessed is the man who is generous. "

Harat Muinuddin Chisti became legendary for his embodiment of this
philosophy. It is said that so many meals were cooked every day in
his kitchen that every impoverished person in the whole city could eat
until satisfied.
His custom was continued by his successors — any
surplus at Chishti khanqahs was distributed to visitors and the needy.
***********************************

It must be Noted that the whole media is going ga ga ga saying people loose their lives on KHWAJA's ORDER ...

When KHAJWA GARIB NAWAZ himself has told that ..

"To listen to the plight of the oppressed,
To help the needy,
And to fill the stomachs of the hungry."
is WORSHIP....

It is said that so many meals were cooked every day in
his kitchen that every impoverished person in the whole city could eat
until satisfied.

MEDIA has to be more careful when talking about RELIGION SAINTS and that to a saint of the STATURE of KHWJA GARIB NAWAZ AJMERI..
KING OF INDIA...

Brother there was another angle to the story which is not being reported in the MEDIA...

These guys were under the INFLUENCE of one BABA from Ahmedabad who told them to goto ajmer and fast for 40 days
This baba was a thug and gave them wrong advice...and they blindly followed him..

Khwaja ke ghar to Langar chalta hai Subah Shaam Har bhooka aaker wahan khaata hai..
Itna lamba roza to shariat ke bhi khilaaf hai aur Khwaja Gareeb Nawaaz Sapne me bhi aisa kuch nai karne ko kahenge...

I had a dream that I should visit Ajmer dargah with family to overcome the evil spirits," Mustafa said

Aisa bilkul ho sakta hay k kisi buzurg ki taraf say khwaab main Basharat ho k falan buzurg ki dargah pay chalay jao to bigra huwa kaam sanwar jayega aur yeh us buzurg ki karamat main say hoga k wahan aapka kaam sahih hojaye.

Aur Ajmer Sharif to aisi jaga hay Jahan par aakar be-aulaad log bhe Allah Kareem k karam say Sahib e Aulad ho jatay hain aur yeh Hazrat Khawaja Moin Uddin Chishti Ajmeri Alaih Rehma ki karamat main say aik hay

After coming to Ajmer, I again had a dream about a month-and-a-half ago that if the whole family observed fast for 40 days, normalcy would return to the family. After that, all of us did not eat or drink anything," said Mustafa.

Yeh baat bhe mumkin hay k khwaab main 40 rozay rakhnay ka hokum huwa ho aur 40 rozay aik saath rakhay bhe jasaktay hain (sirf un dinon k ilawa jismain roza rakhna mana hay)

Magar doosri baat yeh k roza sab ko pata hay k aik particular period say start hokar aik time pay kahatam hojata hay (yani Fajar ta Maghrib) aur yeh bhe sab jaantay hain k Allah Kareem aur uska Rasool Sallallaho Alaihay Wasallam nay Quran o Sunnah main kitni baar takeed ki hay k SEHRI kia karo aur IFTAAR karnay main dair na karo iska matlab hay k khana khaya karo

Is baat ki roshni main aik itna bara Wali (Khawaja Sahab) kabhe bhe SHARIAT k against nahen chal sakta k kisi ko yeh bolay k

40 DIN ROZA RAKHO BAGHAIR KUCH KHAYE PIYE

Sochnay ki baat hay – Think about it k Allah Kareem aur uskar Rasool Sallallaho Alaihay Wasallam rozay main khanay peenay k liye takeed kar rahay hoon aur Khawaja Sahab mana karain – Aisa ho he nahen sakta

Allah Kareem aur uskay Rasool Sallallaho Alaihay Wasallam nay to waisay bhe apni janon par zulm karnay say mana farmaya hay – apnay jism ko azyat daynay say mana farmaya hay to yeh kia himaqat hay k without eating roza rakhay

Aur doosri baat yeh k jis ki chokat pay yeh log paray hain woh to khud itni azeem hasti hain k koyee unkay dar par nab he jaye aur sirf mohabbat bhe rakhay to uskay bigray huwe kaam sanwar jayengay (YEH HUM SAB KA AQIDA HAY) to phir jo unkay dar pay punhunch jaye to woh kabhe khali haath nahen lotayga

Zara sochain k Khawaja Sahab to itni azeem hasti hain k jinko Huzoor Ghous Pak Razi Allaho Anho nay Hindustan ki sar zameen ata farmayee takay woh logon ko Allah Kareem  k hokum say ata karain – kab woh chahaingay k unkay dar pay aakar log apni janon say haath dho bethain.

Allah Kareem say dua hay un Na danon ka hidayat ata farma – aur jo log is mamlay ko ghalat rang day rahay hain unko unki napak sazish main khatam farma day. Ameen
