IMAM AHMED RAZA AS THE MUJADDID OF THE 14TH CENTURY

Undoubtedly, besides being recognised as a great Wali, as the Ghousul Azam and as the Imam Abu Hanifa (radi Allahu anhum) of his time, A'la Hadrat (radi Allahu anhu) was also the Mujaddid (Reviver) of Islam of the 14th Century. He possessed all the conditions of a Mujaddid and his entire life was spent trying to revive the Deen of the Holy Prophet Muhammad (sallal laahu alaihi wasallam).

A cloud of darkness had covered most of the world and the false concepts of Polytheism (Shirk) and Innovations (Bid'at) were coming into existence. The Muslims were in a state of confusion. They were surrounded by the cloud of Kufr (Disbelief), Shirk and Bid'at. It is through the Divine Grace of Almighty Allah and the Sadaqah of the Holy Prophet (sallal laahu alaihi wasallam) that the Reviver of the 14th Century, Imam-e-Ahle Sunnat, Imam Ahmed Raza Khan (radi Allahu anhu) shone like the sun. With his bright proofs, he destroyed the darkness of Kufr and revived Islam.

Professor Manzoorud'deen Ahmad, Vice Chancellor, University of Karachi said: "The reality is that on reading several books of Imam Ahmed Raza, I have come to the conclusion that through his writings and speeches, the Fatawa (Inquisitions) and hundreds of small and bulky treatises, he had struggled for the revival of Islam, and as a reward he was declared as a Mujaddid of his Century by the Ulema (Scholars of Islam), in particular, the scholars of Makkah and Madina (Haramain Sharifain). . ."

A Hadith recorded in Mishkaat Shareef and quoted by Sayyiduna Abu Hurairah (radi Allahu anhu) who says that the Holy Prophet (sallal laahu alaihi wasallam) said: "VERILY, AT THE END OF EVERY CENTURY, ALMIGHTY ALLAH WILL SEND SUCH A PERSON TO THE UMMAH, WHO WILL REVIVE THE DEEN FOR THE THEM (THE UMMAH)."

In other the words, when there comes a period in which there is a shortage of knowledge and a deterioration in following of the Sunnah; when there is an increase in false innovations and ignorance; then Almighty Allah will send a person at the beginning or end of every century who will show the difference between Sunnah and Bid'at. He will refute and destroy false innovations and will fear none but Almighty Allah. He will very bravely and sincerely hoist the flag of Deen-e-Muhammadi (sallal laahu alaihi wasallam). Such a person is known as a "Mujaddid" (Reviver) of Deen.

The author of the book, "Siraajum Muneer", has explained who a Mujaddid is in the following words: "In other words, to revive the Deen is to revive those teachings of the Quran and Sunnah that are being destroyed and to give command according to the Quran and Sunnah."

Allamah Munaadi (radi Allahu anhu) states:"A Mujaddid is one who separates Sunnah from Bid'ah and one who degrades the status of the Ahle Bid'ah."

Why does a Mujaddid come after 100 years? A Mujaddid is sent after every 100 years because after every century the surroundings, the environment, the manner of thinking and ways of the people tend to pass through a massive transformation. It has been stated in the Hadith of Bukhari Shareef that during the latter stages of the Prophet's (sallal laahu alaihi wasallam) physical life, one night, after performing Esha Salaah, he stood up and said, "Should I inform you of the importance of this night? From this night onwards, right up to the end of a 100 years, that person who is alive on the earth (presently) will not be alive."

Can their be more than one Mujaddid to a century? Yes. There can be more, and there has already been more than one Mujaddid to a Century. In the Hadith, the Arabic word that is used to explain the coming of the Mujaddid is in the singular tense, but according to the meaning, it is a plural as it has been explained in the Kitaabs of Usool-e-Fiqh. Allamah Mulla Ali bin Sultan Qaari (radi Allahu anhu) who is the Mujaddid of the 11th Century says, "From the words, not only one single person is implied, but the implication is towards a group of people, from amongst whom each one is reforming a single type of knowledge or all types of knowledge in his city."

My Dear Brothers  & Sisters,
Remembering Khwaja Moin-ud-din Hassan Chishti  (Rahmatullahi Allaih), Haji Malang Baba  (Rahmatullahi Allaih) & “The reviver of The Faith” so also 'The Hidden Men Of Allah' let’s begin today’s article.

Kind Note:-Pls read my article silently, for “The reviver of The Faith” appreciates ‘Silence’.

‘Better Late than Never’, however the below holds true: (Ref-www.dawateislami.net)

Ker Jawani mayn ibadat kahili achhchi nahin,
Jab burhapa aa gaya kuch baat ban perti nahin,
Hay burhapa bhi ghaneemat jab jawani ho chuki,
Yeh burhapa bhi na hoga maut jis dam aa gayi.

Appreciate time; consider it to be precious; the time that passes never returns.’

Today of all 'The friends of God', I write about this great leader of the sublime spiritual chain of Silsila-e-Naqshbandiyyah,Sayyiduna Ahmad Sarhind Farooqi Naqshbandi  (Rahmatullahi Allaih) alias Shaykh “Mujaddid Alf –e-Saani “ of ‘Sarhind’ (Punjab, India).

Sayyiduna Mujaddid Alf-e-Saani’s  (Rahmatullahi Allaih) way of teaching was overwhelming. It makes me shiver to write about this Shaykh for twin reasons

1.   Firstly :-who am I ,but an ignorant lost soul trying to gather tits & bits standing like a beggar at times with tears in eyes.?
2.   Secondly, this Shaykh was a staunch preacher of Islam.

An Islamic Scholar, he turned the tide in the court of Emperor Jahangir and revived the faith of ‘Islam’ during Jahangir’s regime.

How on the earth would I ever be associated with this ‘Badr-ud-din’  (Rahmatullahi Allaih) who followed Shari’ah and Sunnah of Nobel Rasool so much so, that he departed from this planet earth just like the Prophet( Peace and Blessings Be Upon Him ) at the age of sixty three!

Some of the sayings of Mujaddid Alf-e-Saani  (Rahmatullahi Allaih) are as mentioned below:-

1.   Shari’ah is the only means of salvation & stressed on the importance of living life according to Sunnah of the Prophet (PHUB).

“Then become obedient to me, Allah will hold you, friends.”

2.   The Beloved Rasool did not have a shadow.
3.   All blessed companions of the Holy Rasool should be remembered with good Zikr.
4.   Sayyiduna Abu Bakr Siddeeq is the most superior among companions.
5.   A sign of great devotion to the Beloved & Blessed Rasool is that a person holds complete enmity towards the enemies of the Beloved Rasool.
6.   Singing is a fatal poison:-Mujaddid Alf-e-Saani( (Rahmatullahi Allaih) stated “Do not desire for singing, nor be deceived by its charm. Because it is honey mixed with fatal poison.[Is Sama different from Singing? Hopefully Yes?]
7.   It is Sunnah for every Muslim to wear “Imamah” whether he is a scholar or not.
8.   Despondency is in fact idolatry. Always be hopeful.
9.   One should be patient when involved in some trouble and submit oneself to His Will.
10.   Whatever God does is best.

Teachings of “The reviver of Faith” comes from the treasure “Sufi saints of the Indian Subcontinent” by Zahurul Hassan Sharib & most informative insights from Maktaba-tul-Madinah (www.dawateislami.net)

Forecast of my next article:-Practices of Shaykh Mujaddid Alf-e=Saani  (Rahmatullahi Allaih), in case the Shaykh is kind enough to accept my services in the form of writing & finds it beneficial for the Team.

Thanks & regards,
Sister Reshma.

My Dear Brothers  & Sisters-Salaams,

Salutations to the Sufi saints is a must,
My articles make sense, I trust,
Pray it isn’t sheer waste of your time, forum’s space,
And each article reflects Sufis elegance & grace!

“Distant hill looks green” however the members of this Team remain in my prayers whenever I pay a visit to any Sufi Shrine or a temple for that matter.
In continuation with “The reviver of The Faith” Sayyiduna Mujaddid Alf-e-Saani’s  (Rahmatullahi Allaih) insights today lets discuss the Practices followed by this great Sufi Saint of the Indian sub-continent. Few important practices that Sayyiduna Mujaddid Alf-e-Saani  (Rahmatullahi Allaih) would perform are as mentioned below:

1.   Recite Masnoon Du'a after midnight, Salah so also while washing body parts pre & post Wudu (sitting in direction of Qiblah); Use Miswak (A traditional and natural alternative to the modern toothbrush) in Wudu..
2.   Offer Tahajjud regularly & do prolonged Qira’at(recitation of the Holy Quran) in Tahajjud.
3.   Wear nice dress for Salah & would get ready with extreme dignity for Salah. & offer the Sunnahs of Fajr Salah at home & Fard of Fajr with a massive Jama’at (congregation) in the Masjid. Always wear blessed Imamah (blessed turban).
4.   After Salah, he would form a circle of Zikr, recitation of the Holy Quran & would give Madani pearls to the students of primary level.
5.   Oft remain silent. At times, he would start weeping & would weep bitterly.
6.   He would eat extremely little food (receipt Du’a pre-post meal).Have a little nap after a meal (during day time).
7.   He would reply to Azan.
8.   Since he was a Haafiz, would recite holy Quran while travelling & at least three times in the month of Ramadan.
9.   Would choose either Monday or Thursday for travelling.
10.   Would always take a lead in saying Salaam.[This quality is so elegant, One can surely implement the same in practical life]

Did you know?  Roll Eyes Roll Eyes

Do not kick pieces of paper while walking.
Even a plain piece of paper should be respected. And why should it not be respected as Ayahs of the Holy Quran, blessed Ahadees & all religious teachings are written on it.

1.   Narrating Sayyiduna Mujaddid Alf-e-Saani’s  (Rahmatullahi Allaih) karamat (miracle) ,he came to know about the paper under his bed without even physically looking at it. He got up from the bed in respect to the paper so that his followers could also get the mind-set of
        respecting pieces of paper.
2.   It is stated in ‘Bahar-e-Shari’at’,, vol.1,pg 411:”It is forbidden to perform Istinja(cleaning of body) with paper even if there is nothing written on it or even if the name of an infidel like Abhu Jahl is written on it.’

3.   Islamic scholars give permission to wipe hands with tissue paper and use of toilet paper is permitted too.

Thanks & Regards,
Sister Reshma.
