 As-Salaam alaikum,
Sheikh Sahl Ibn Abdullah al-Tustari, may Allah be Merciful to him and us, was asked what he thought of a man who said, "I am like a gate: I do not move until I am moved."  Sahl replied:-- "This is either the speech of a Wali (Siddiq) or the speech of a freethinker (Zindiq)."

What the Sheikh meant was/is that the Wali regards all things as subsisting through Allah, Jallah-Jalalahu, and proceeding from Allah, but at the same time recognizes the obligations of religion and morality; while the freethinker only holds his doctrine in order that he may commit as many sins as he pleases without incurring blame."
